If you live or work in Michigan and find yourself in need of notarization services, there’s no need to travel to meet a notary to authenticate your important document. Instead, have the notary come to you by leveraging the ease and convenience of mobile or remote online notarization. At First Class Signing Service (FCSS), we have the customer service and technical expertise to make the notarization process a snap!
What Is Mobile Notary?
Not so long ago, if you had a document to notarize, you had only one option: physically taking that document to the office of a commissioned notary public, where all relevant parties must gather to sign in person.
A mobile notary makes this process considerably easier by bringing the notary directly to you, whether that’s at a law firm, real estate agency, private residence or hospital room. Mobile notaries will travel wherever needed to authenticate documents on site.
What Is Remote Online Notarization (RON)?
Remote online notarization (RON) eliminates the need for physical travel altogether. Allowing all signing parties to meet with a notary over the internet, RON takes place entirely in the virtual space, but its final results are just as real, concrete and legally binding as mobile or traditional notarization.
Using this tech-driven form of notarization, you can conveniently sign agreements with people on the other side of the world, sidestepping geographic barriers that might otherwise make these agreements difficult, if not impossible.
When To Consider a Mobile Notary or Remote Online Notarization
Both mobile notarization and remote online notarization are legal in Michigan and incredibly easy to schedule through FCSS. Furthermore, these forms of notarization are valid for all types of important official documents including promissory notes, powers of attorney, living wills, loans, affidavits and medical directives.
While the ease and convenience of RON and mobile notarization are obvious, these modern notarization approaches can also save individuals and organizations significant amounts of money by streamlining operations and reducing travel expenses.
Other benefits of these approaches include greater flexibility and less stressful signing experiences. Although they can assist with document preparation and verification, notaries without law degrees are not qualified to give legal advice.

Becoming a Notary in Michigan
Because notaries are commissioned at the state level, you must meet State of Michigan commission requirements if you want to notarize documents here. You must be at least 18 years of age, be a U.S. citizen or have proof of legal presence, be able to read and write in English, and be free of all disqualifying criminal convictions and legal violations.
You must also be a resident of the Michigan county through which you are requesting a commission or maintain a place of business in that county. You must also file a $10,000 surety bond with the office of the county clerk and sign an official declaration of good faith and trustworthiness. While licensed attorneys are exempt from the surety bond requirement, they must submit an oath to the office of the county clerk.
